Pupils at Abu Bakr Primary, Girls and Boys Secondary School and Nursery children took part in Orphans In Need during the week of Monday 13 April, raising an amazing £19,000.

Headteacher, Hasina Varachia said, “As a school we are passionate and dedicated in serving the community through our regular charity fundraisers. It had come to that time of the year again where we collectively put our efforts together in to raise money for this important cause. We have been art of an ongoing project to build the orphan village in India which is now almost complete.”

An important element of the fundraising week was the collection boxes. Amyra Ali in Year 1 raised the most money and will be awarded an ipad. Pupils participated in fundraisers and activities across the week, including football and cricket tournaments, non uniform day, a Bake-a-Thon competition and food sales.

Primary school children enjoyed face painting, slush puppy sales, balloons and participated in games including Beat the Buzzer.

Pupils also purchased t-shirts and badges expressing solidarity with the charity.
