AMS engagement with DfE on SRE

Mar 6, 2019 by

The Association of Muslim Schools UK (AMS) is engaging with the Department for Education (DfE) in the interest of Muslim faith-ethos schools, to develop a curriculum that meets the statutory requirements of Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) and the needs of pupils in Muslim faith-ethos schools, in a religiously-sensitive manner.

AMS has responded to the consultation on Sex and Relationship Education along with other organisations and individuals but is ultimately not responsible in any way for the statutory guidance published. The final statutory guidance will be published by the DfE who will make the final decision on its contents.

AMS does not represent religiously non-designated schools, even those with a majority of Muslim pupils, and does not engage with any statutory body on their behalf.
