AMS statement on the Christchurch terror attacks

Mar 15, 2019 by

The Association of Muslim Schools expresses its profound sorrow at the devastating events that took place at the Al-Noor and Linwood Mosques in Christchurch and offers its thoughts and prayers to those affected by the terror during Friday prayers.

We echo the words of Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand who said,

It is clear that this can now be only described as a terrorist attack. Our thoughts and our prayers are with those who have been impacted today. Christchurch was the home of these victims. Many of those who will have been directly affected by this shooting may not have been born here but a place where they came to, and had committed themselves to. They have chosen to make New Zealand their home, and it is their home. They are us. The person who has perpetuated this violence against us is not. They have no place in New Zealand. There is no place in New Zealand for such acts of extreme and unprecedented violence, which it is clear this act was.

There can be no justification for the horrific and inhumane acts that took place in Christchurch. We pray for the 49 lost souls and their families and hope those responsible are brought to justice.
