As part of the AMS Annual General Meeting, where our report for this academic year is presented prior to the Shura Council elections, we invite member schools to take part in our very first end-of-year Tech Fair, led by Innovate My School, and attend an inspection briefing overview by inspection consultant Saleem Hussain, to prepare schools for inspections in the next academic year.

There will also be an opportunity to learn about upcoming AMS initiatives including our Military Leadership Camp with the British Army and the annual School Leaders Tour to Morocco in March 2018. The fair will also give attendees a chance to meet our key educational service partners and learn about special offers to AMS members.

The event is free to attend for up to 3 staff from AMS member schools. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. You can download the agenda by clicking here.

Annual General Meeting Notice

The Association of Muslim Schools (AMS) Shura Council gives notice that the 2017 Annual General Meeting will be held at 10.00am on Saturday 1 July 2017, at Birchfield Independent Girls School, 30 Beacon Hill, Aston, Birmingham, B6 6JU, for the following purposes:

  • To receive and consider the Annual Report of activities for the current academic year to date
  • To receive and consider the Financial Report of the Association for the financial year ended March 31 2017.
  • To elect four members to serve on the Shura Council as directors and trustees of the Association (3 year term).

All AMS member schools are invited to attend the 2017 Annual General Meeting. For the purposes of voting, schools can nominate one representative who will have the authority to cast votes on their behalf. If you wish your school to be represented at the AGM, please complete the booking form below, confirming the name of the person who will be attending to represent the school. Up to two additional non-voting representatives may also attend the meeting.

The deadline for confirming AGM attendance is Wednesday 28 June 2017


If a member school would like to nominate a representative to serve on the Shura Council and stand for election, a written notice must be sent to AMS, with the name of the representative, their role in the school (e.g. headteacher, governor) and the expertise they can bring to the Shura Council and member schools, along with two references (one reference must be related to education and one reference must be from outside the school they are representing). If they satisfy the requirements laid out in the Association’s Constitution, their name will be added to the ballot paper on the day.

All attendees must register to attend by using the booking form below. Up to three representatives may attend from any one member school. The first name will be considered to be the voting representative for the school with any additional names as non-voting representatives.

The AGM may only be attended by named representatives of member schools.
