This course examines a series of real life case studies and exemplar schools that implement well being programmes. The impact of well being on academic performance is discussed and pro-active methods of maintaining the mental health of students is provided.

This module also provides the 6-step process used by the Muslim youth helpline officers on a daily basis and essential referral points are identified.

E. Differentiation (Primary) & Teaching an Outstanding Primary Lesson

Course Leader: Zebulnisa Butt

Aimed at: Primary teachers and teaching assistants/support staff

This workshop comprises a morning and afternoon session. The morning session will cover Differentiation for Primary Schools and the afternoon session will cover Teaching an Outstanding Primary Lesson.

The workshop on differentiation will analyse the thinking behind differentiation and mastery. It will look at the correlation between the two and how deeply it is thought about by teachers. It will aim to provide a new perspective of differentiation by affiliating it with mastery. The workshop will entail leaving teachers with strategies to utilise based on the development of knowledge on differentiation.

Teaching an Outstanding Primary Lesson – as rated by Ofsted. This workshop will work through the key features that regulators search for when observing a lesson. It will draw on practices of an outstanding lesson and how these can be adapted to your school’s requirements. This workshop will encourage participants to interact and share experiences of planning an excellent lesson by drawing on theories of child development and learning in the primary age. It will encourage those attending to participate in the session and share good practice.

Zebulnisa Butt is a qualified teacher and independent education consultant with many years of experience in teaching and advising secondary and primary schools. She is fully accredited by the society of educational experts (SEC) and has adopted a holistic approach towards teaching and learning based on her experience of working with children and young people, drawing on aspects of changing the way things are perceived to achieve practical outcomes.

Zebulnisa has also worked as an education officer for Oldham Council, supporting schools to implement effective education plans and delivered training to leading schools as part of the local authority agenda of improving education standards across the Oldham borough. She has also supported parents with behaviour management techniques (derived from Webster Stratton and triple p) and later qualified as a CBT practitioner with psychotherapy fundamentals.
