Interfaith Games 2016

Jun 7, 2016 by

Schools celebrated a great week at this year’s Interfaith Games where sporting events for pupils aged 11-13 were organised across the country to foster unity in faith-based schools.

The second edition of the Interfaith Games, sponsored by Islamic Relief, took place from Monday 23 to Friday 27 May and were attended by over 400 children from 25 schools who entered various teams in five-a-side football, track and field athletics, netball and basketball events taking place regionally at a host of venues.

The Games, with the aim of bringing schools together and providing opportunities for pupils to play sport which representing their school, were also supported by sporting institutes and establishments such as the Football Association and Muslim Sports Council.

Yahya Sidatt of the Muslim Sports Council said, “The games were a great poster for promoting health, integration and diversity. Together with AMS and our partners, we were able to deliver another successful Interfaith Games and are proud to have been involved in such a positive and valuable contribution to the community.”
