Fluency involves understanding! Fluency is noticing and making connections between known & unknown. Research enables us to interpret ‘fluency’ as constituting efficiency, accuracy and flexibility. This session will aim to explore each of these elements in more detail. Reasoning can be thought of as the process of drawing conclusions on the basis of evidence or stated assumptions. It is the ‘glue’ that helps Maths makes sense through thinking & talking Mathematically. Research has shown that giving learners more opportunities to think & talk mathematically increases their understanding of Maths.
